O.V.D stands for Old Vatted Demerara, a style of rum blending unique to the Demerara region of Guyana. The rum is distilled from molasses in a wooden Coffey still in Guyana before it’s blended and bottled in Glasgow. A classic dark rum with an almost cult status, that’s packed with rich, creamy notes.
We reckon O.V.D. Demerara Rum is one of our Best Rums under £40!
Buttery, toffee-rich aromas. Dried peels, oak and stone fruit.
Syrupy, buttery palate. Sweetened coffee and banana sweets.
Medium-length finish, sparkling spices on the tail.

Have been drinking it for 45 years with coke and ice and although I drink very little now when I have one it's like greeting an old friend. Nothing tastes like it have tasted them but ovd has a taste all of its own. It is not easy to squire outside the Dundee area but as I live within 20 miles it is not a problem..slange!!!
I followed in my fathers footsteps and tried this 40yrs ago, he drank his with a touch of peppermint, i sometimes had mine with blackcurrant. Although i'm now a malt whisky drinker, every so often i buy a bottle of OVD & spend a few days enjoying this lovely old rum. Every pub i go to when i'm back home in Fife has a bottle somewhere.
OVD is currently available at Tesco in Cardiff. It's pretty good, if not as good a dark rum as Woods Navy.
Drunk OVD all my life. Was originally distilled in my hometown - Dundee, from imported ingredients. As things go, production moved to Guyana but the rum was still bottled in Dundee 'til the 1970s. Bottling plant moved to Glasgow but it's hard to find on the west coast of Scotland and almost impossible in England or Wales. It's a lot cheaper in Dundee - can get a litre bottle for £17. In fact, outside of @ a 20 mile radius round Dundee, it's a hit or a miss to find in a pub. Best rum I've tasted - and I've tasted lots...OVD...coke...easy on the ice - must be what God drinks...
O.V.D. Is the best tasting rum I ever tasted. My Daughter in lLaw is from Scotland. Is O.V.D. Sold anywhere in the States?
