Pot still rum from Mt Uncle distillery, part of That Boutique-y Rum Company's Return to Oz collection. Made with sugar cane syrup sourced from a local factory, and combined with dunder, this rum then gets distilled on a 1,500 litre Holstein pot still. This rum was then matured for an impressive 12 years in a heavily toasted hogshead that previously held red wine. Distillery founder Mark Watkins features on the label, along with a whole range of supersized critters.
Batch 1 is a release of 334 bottles.
Gloriously fruity on the nose. Green pineapple, honeydew melon, ripe nectarine, mango. Sherbert top notes, with a touch of oak and burn rubber.
Sweet and oily on the palate, lots of Victoria plum, jammy, with a touch of allspice.
Tannic oak and green tea. Tart cooked rhubarb, green pineapple, and a touch of anise.

Please don't let my review put you off buying this as I do not profess to have an educated palette. A friend sent me a 60ml sample and I was not impressed. For me, the 'finish' is totally dominated by a taste of stale red wine which I can see is interpreted as "Tart Rhubarb" in the tasting notes from MoM. I very much prefer Mount Uncle's 'Iridium', which is less than half the price.
