Column distilled in 2010 at Jamaica's Monymusk distillery, this captivating rum was bottled up by Mezan, after spending a dozen years resting in ex-bourbon casks. Those years were divided between the tropical climate of Jamaica, and the not quite so tropical climate of Europe, until the folks at Mezan decided it was the perfect time for bottling.
Yep, it's Jamaican! Punchy notes of grilled tropical fruit, treacle, and distant dried chilli kick things off before vanilla pod and nutmeg join.
Mouthcoating caramel, charred pineapple, prickles of allspice, and green peppercorns.
Sweetness and spice in perfect balance with brown sugar, peppery heat, salted caramel, and rich, creamy vanilla. Things tail off with leathery oak and vibrant molasses.

This rum is lighter in colour than most rums without actually being white. I don't have a discerning palate and found it to be relatively mild in taste with little or no burn in the mouth or in the throat. For the price it's disappointing and nothing special.
