Feast your eyes upon Havana Club Añejo 7 Year Old, a wonderfully flavoursome Cuban rum that is no stranger to awards. Back when it was created, this was the first Havana Club expression that was intended for sipping neat rather than for using in cocktails and mixed drinks. Though saying that, if you think your cocktails could use an upgrade of rich, aged rum tastiness, this stuff is ace. We've been particular impressed when using it in place of a whiskey for Old Fashioned and Manhattan cocktails...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Sweet and buttery with intermingled notes of toffee, honeycomb and coffee, a little spice and dried peels with notes of orchard fruits and biscuits.

Palate

Full and rich with notes of cigar box, particularly the cedar wood thereof, guava and banana leaf with more toffee.

Finish

Fruity, creamy finish. Lots of complexity.

Havana / Heaven

Have been drinking Havana 7 for a long time. A constant of creamy caramel / toffee, which is excellent on its own over ice or in a cocktail with butterscotch and ginger beer.

This is a full on full of flavour sipping rum.

The first taste really took me by surprise. Full of flavour, robust strong but with no burn in my mouth or throat. I have continued to enjoy it as a sipping rum but with each tasting I find it increasingly coarse and rough in the mouth. Maybe thats because I leave the bottle top off and the exposure to the air causes some evaporation. Definitely worth a try.

Great rum, underpriced

You could easily place this common off the shelf rum with far more expensive rums. Beautiful Smokey flavour

A Classic Dark Rum

For me, this is the quintessential dark rum. It's a deep copper colour with just the right amount of molasses and tobacco on the nose. Taste-wise it's not too sweet with hints of honey, smoke and spice. It's got a light burn with a vanilla finish. For a refined palette, this is a perfectly balanced rum. All Cuban rums are made with cultured tobacco using traditional methods. Havana Club is a national treasure and every sip of Havana 7yo takes me back to three memorable weeks on the Island. This rum is delicious sipped, with any mixer, and is tasty when in desserts and coffee. It also pairs rather well with a Cuban cigar. This is a classic dark rum, priced right (especially at Singapore duty-free) and is always in my liquor cabinet.
