    Old Salt Rum

Old Salt Rum is produced by the English Spirit Distillery, and we mean that very literally. It's one of only a few rums distilled in England - no spirit brought in from far off lands makes its way into this one! It's made from pure cane molasses, which is fermented and then triple distilled in copper pot stills, and then the spirit is matured in English oak barrels before bottling at 42% ABV. It takes its name from the Old Salt Depot, where the distillery used to call home. No salt added here (though it'd probably pair very well with some sort of salted caramel pudding...).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Rich treacle and smooth caramel form a sweet aroma.

    Palate

Cocoa powder, vanilla and syrup pudding.

    Finish

The finish is a rich concoction of treacle tart and vanilla ice cream.

    Overall

A big toffee'd beast with delicious syrupy notes.

    A joy.

The nicest sipping rum I've ever had - exceptionally smooth.

A rum that must be tried

Everything I'd hoped it would be. The molasses gives it a very bold profile in smell and taste. Personally there's a very definite Christmas cake similarity there for me, alongside the treacle and cocoa. Would have been grateful for an extra 20cl in the bottle though!

    Lovely Stuff

Amazing to see a truly English rum full of such flavour. Enjoyed very much!

    Naff as a battered hat

Smells like paint, tastes like paint-stripper. Don't bother; buy Pusser's or Rumbullion instead.

    Not to our liking

Not what was expected. Both love rum however this must be an acquired taste. It was the worst rum ever tasted.
