When an ex-Amarone barrique of Madeiran column still rum from Engenho Novo came our way, we didn't have to think twice. It's just the sort of thing to fit right into our own indie bottling range, so folks like you can give it a try! Matured for three years between 2016 and 2019, a total of 177 bottles were drawn from the Italian red wine cask.

Very delicate with hints of white grape and rusk biscuits. Damp oak leads to something floral, with hints of honeysuckle, melon, and a touch of fennel. In time, vanilla sweetness joins.
Nutty praline and delicate caramel grip the palate with an instant coating before a smack of drying oak kicks in. Green peppercorns, nutmeg, and clove bring a brilliant tickle of warmth.
Spiced caramel lingers, with earthy notes of vanilla pod, chalky candies, and more tingles of woody spice.

Considering this rum is only 3 years old, it's quite excellent and terrific value for money. Despite the 58.3% ABV, I found it extremely easy to sip, neat. No ice, no water, nothing. Once that initial alcohol burn subsides, there remains a really smooth, well rounded, rum.
One of the best rums available in the sub £50 price bracket. Easy drinking even at its higher abv, delicious stuff.
Absolutely stunning ? for the money Gorgeous dark rich red fruits. One of the rum highlights of the year for me. Worth every penny.
I like this Rum a lot. Its none chill-filtered with no added colouring, and at 58.3 per cent. It does take some water to calm it down, but it is very enjoyable, and its only a 3 year old.
