Depth Charge Spiced Rum packs a big, powerful flavour profile, having been made with a fantastic base of Caribbean rum, a selection of tasty spices and generous helpings of lime and mandarin at its core. The name comes from an ancient seafaring tale, now lost in the oceans of time and lore. Expect this expression to be great served simply over ice with a good wedge of lime, and it should pair brilliantly with all those classic rum mixers we know and love.
Brown sugar, rich honey, old fashioned cola and a big burst of fresh citrus brightness, underpinned by baking spice warmth.
Cinnamon and vibrant lime sit up front, bolstered by further flashes of orange, peppercorn, cola cubes and allspice. Runny caramel and just a touch of apple sit in the background.
Sweet vanilla and a final citrusy splash.
A particularly booming spiced rum, this.

A new bottle of rum to try but sadly we found it overly spiced, too many things going on.
Yeah, I don't much care for those either, much less mixed together - too medicinal. Smells sweet, there is a cola-tinged fleck of brown sugar/spice but I didn't catch any citrus at all. It's treacly, a tad overpowering but the bottle is kinda funky like a bomb (not a depth charge oddly) and a cork top is a nice touch compared to a screw cap. Sadly, I think this is only a 'Best Seller' because of the buy-3-get1-free offer - which I sloppily fell for in exchange for lazy Christmas present ideas.
As a >50 year old, I have a lot of spirit drinking experience behind me. All manner of whiskies, gins, vodkas and rums. I've had a lot of rums and a lot of spiced rums. Of the spiced variety, this is easily the best of the best. The flavour profile is very like my home-made mulled wine recipe. Citrus (lime, lemon and mandarin), vanilla, a hearty slap of cardamom, allspice, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, bay leaf, muscovado sugar. It dances on your taste buds and leaves you wanting more, more, more....
This was bought as a present but i had a taste as well. Really nice, i loved it, the gift was loved, one of the best rums I've tried. So much flavour I'll be buying another bottle for myself.
Wasn't sure what to expect. Pleasantly surprised with the flavour. Thoroughly enjoyable.
