Chairman's Reserve is distilled on the island of St Lucia and comprises a blend of pot still and Coffey column still rums, aged between four and five years in casks that previously held bourbon. With rounded layers of tropical fruit and spices, backed by waves of oaken vanilla, it'll work a treat in classic rum cocktails like a Mai Tai.
Rich, aromatic. Very fruity on the nose. Peppery.
Cooked apples, banana bread, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla, and Demerara sugar.
Sweet, creamy and very fruity.

BEAUTIFULY SOFT MELLOW MIXER DEFINETLY MORE ISH
This isn't a sipping rum. It's a mixer. Far superior to Cockspur and comparing it more expensive rum's is utterly pointless. You cannot get a better rum at this price point. Sipping rum for £20 really?
Not a great rum IMO - given it's reputation I expected a lot more. It's got a pot still type flavour neat but is a bit 'young' to sip. When mixed it loses nearly almost all flavour. Over ice you fall between the two, either not to my sipping taste or flavourless. As a preferable 'English style' you should look to Bajan or Trinidadian. Mount Gay Eclipse or Cockspur 5 star make better priced mixers. Plantation Barbados 5 or Angostura 1919 (although more expensive) make better sippers.
If you've had a lot of rum you've probably had better (the heavenly sensation of El dorado 21yr, hello?). That said, this is fine rum. Nose is exquisite with hints of vanilla and orange supporting a refreshing floral backdrop. The taste throws you headfirst into a strong, tangy and sweet plunge pool, until you slowly float back to the surface to experience the vanillas and dripping sweet nectar you were hoping for. The balance is exceptional as the taste delivers exactly what the nose promised - and more! Essentially it tastes twice its price. Bloody good grog.
I find this rum to very versatile in the fact that it is great as the base for many of the great cocktails but can also be enjoyed neat or over ice and has a wonderful rich dried fruit aroma with notes of vanilla and a nutty character of almond and macadamia?
