This smashing rum hails from closed distillery in Trinidad, Caroni! Distilled in 1997, just five years before it closed, the rum then spent over two decades maturing in a single refill barrel. When it reached 21 years of age, Berry Bros. & Rudd cracked open the cask for its Exceptional Cask series, with a release of 231 bottles at 60.4% ABV. A wonderfully rare expression.
This deep golden rum brims with sweet, rich fruity aromas countered by zesty lemon and lime, some treacle toffee and cloves.
The wonderfully succulent honeyed palate delivers continuous waves of rich dark toffee flavours edged with some smokiness and green banana.
A little oak shines through to offer some balancing tannin. Caroni distillery closed a few years ago so enjoy this exotic rarity while you still can.

Indeed, 1997 is considered one of the best, if not the best Caroni year, so the asking price is actually quite reasonable.
The 'Price' review seems at odds with a quickly sold out product, and leaving starred reviews without an actual review doesn't help anybody. If it's too expensive, just don't buy it. Complain to the bottler if you like (who charged the same) , don't whinge here on MoM.
