Dominican producer Brugal has been in the rum business for over 135 years, and in that time, five generations of Maestros Roneros have overseen its production, each passing their wisdom on to the next. This well-aged expression was overseen by fifth generation Maestra Ronera, Jassil Villanueva and was matured in a selection of American oak sherry casks. During maturation, the rum is emptied from the casks so they can undergo Brugal's unique 'Dark Aromatic Toasting Technique'. The casks are toasted with precision, drawing natural sugars from the wooden staves to emerge and caramelise. The casks are then refilled with the rum, allowing all that woody caramel intensity to marry with the spirit. Designed for sipping, bottled with natural colour and sweetness, this is a decadent and impressive offering from the historic producer.
