Very nice rum, I thought a little bit of toffee flavour? Had the pleasure of a distillery tour a few years ago and still loyal to this when I see it at a bar.
Quite alright in the price range. Toffee on the nose, and caramel, molasses on the palate. However, in the first moments I can taste some unpleasant volatiles (has to do something with the distillation and 38%) and the finish is boring.

since a lot of years yo disfruto "extra viejo - reserva familiar" - this brand and typ of dominican ron. But i suppose the taste has been changed since a couple of years. Its because the production-line in Puerto Plata has changed? Earlier the taste was - for my experience - a little bit smoother - like almendras. In spit of i always buy it
