Canary Islands-based Arehucas distillery has been making rum for over a century. Arehucas Ron Añejo 18 Años has been matured for 18 years in oak barrels before bottling, bringing generous helpings of silky vanilla, and oak spice to the sugar-cane character at its core.
Sweet sugar cane, with some syrupy cherries, earthy vanilla, and woody spices.

Just tasted this in the distillery at Arucas, GC. I'm not a rum drinker, but this was a really interesting taste. Not overbearing or hot on the alcohol side, it was smooth and warming. I won't claim hints of this or notes of that, but it was really nice. Honestly reminded me of some single malt whiskys. Recommended. Also try the 12 year old and the Captain Kidd, the latter of which is incredible, with a price tag to match.
