An excellent 8 year old Jamaican rum from the Appleton Estate, boasting waves of runny honey, toffee, oak spice and hints of caramelised nuts. Terrific value for money, and more than suitable for using in a Rum Old Fashioned, we will say...
Toasted sugar, almonds, melted butter, honey, caramel, chocolate peanuts and a hint of red apple.
Are there better runs out there? Yes. Are there better rums for this price? No. Good enough to sip and excellent choice long or in cocktails, my go to rum
Great rum that brings a new lease of life to the humble Cuba libre, no other run comes close. Great in an old fashioned but I definitely prefer it with a dash of lime and coke.
Bought this for a celebration; to share with like minded Rum Fans and curios colleagues. Great Flavours and very smoooooth...enjoyed by all. Great value to boot.
Smell is caramel, subtle baked apple, toffee Taste is all that, subtle funk and wood, varnish, touch of creosote, leading ti solid burn, astringent dry wood and molasses. Finish is surprisingly long and pleasant. With a bit more acquaintance, a few layers to the flavour surface, behind the fiery youthfulness. It immediately strikes me as a great option for unsweetened sipping rum, circa £30. More fiery and less complex than Chairman's Reserve Original, but tasty nonetheless.
I like the Appleton signature so thought I'd try this out. This is a really good smooth rum in which you can taste the orange peel flavour to it. Highly recommend this.
