Released in the latter half of 2016, Angostura's 15 Year Old "1787" rum boasts a dark hue and massive flavour profile of dried fruit, toasted oak and robust spice. Ace Trinidadian rum that's well-suited to sipping neat. The name refers to the date that the first sugar mill was established at the Lapeyrouse Estate.
Apricot pastries, rum-soaked sultanas, a good kick of cinnamon bark.
Softly charred oak smokiness arrives on the palate, swiftly mellowed by more dried fruit richness.
Honey, crunchy brown sugar and a hint of new leather.
$31.71 - $53.98
Lovely drop of rum , so easy to drink. Will definitely buy again, another quality bottle to add to the bar
I had previously tasted Angostura's 8 year old,1919 which I really liked ,it was one of my first sipping rums & I loved it's smooth vanilla taste. I then bought the 1824 12 year old, & again I loved it. I found that in this 15 year old 1787 the taste of the rum was dominated by a smokey charred flavour, that reminded me of the Ron Abuelo Two Oaks(which uses charred oak barrels) In the same way, I prefer Ron Abuelo's 12 year old over the Two Oaks, I prefer the 1824 to this
It's supposed to be rough ...it's not a smooth spiced rum.. more like a proper sea rum molasses and spices. And full of flavour... Personally I love it but if you want a smooth rum try the 1824.
best iv had at this price point
I trink it will be a great drink for Christmas.Especially for my son who was in the Royal Navy.
