“Maybe my favorite of the Ilegal lineup. Bright, fresh nose, sweet and grassy. Smoke is just barely detectable. The palate has bright fresh fruit notes, agave of course, along with apple. There’s a welcome creaminess to the mouthfeel. More smoke–still restrained–toward the finish, along with a hit of roasted coffee. Ilegal Reposado

This is a delicious Reposado Mezcal from the Ilegal company. It's distilled at Destileria Tlacolula in Oaxaca, Mexico, and is double distilled in copper stills. It's then aged in American oak before bottling. This was awarded a Gold Medal at the Tequila.net Awards.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Slightly woody, caramel-like aromas. Baked agave, cassia bark and chilli.

Palate

Butterscotch and caramel. Soft wood smoke, cedar, pipe tobacco and agave. Dried herbs.

Finish

Oaky, woody finish. Cocoa powder and orange rinds.

Smooth and smokey

I've enjoyed mezcals when out in bars and restaurants. A friend recommended this brand and I'm glad he did. Smooth and smokey, perfect for mezcal negronis that my wife loves!

Light

Definitely enjoyed it, but didn't find it as good as other similarly priced mezcals. It's smooth with light character and a little less smoke than I'd like, but still tasty.

Quality tipple, historically grounded in greatness

This is an exceptional mezcal up there with quality bourbons n single malts my best friend lives in Guatemala and knows the American owner so u could say im biased but this is wrong.I am 49 years old and know my whisky n whiskeys and this surpasses them in it's own uniqueness of smooth mindblowing taste...Obviously cannot recommend enough...An ideal gift to be savored any time of the year truly surprised when I discovered this last year, you will not be disappointed?
