This single-village mezcal from Código 1530 is made in Oaxaca from a combination of espadín and tobala magueys. The agave hearts have been roasted in an earthen oven and the juice extracted with a traditional tahona. After distillation with a copper alembic still, this mezcal rested in French oak barrels that once held sauvignon blanc from Napa Valley. A superb mezcal for sipping, or for a special twist on classic cocktails.
Soft smoke alongside, creamy, earthy clay. Fruity notes of bitter orange, and summer stone fruit.
