The Casamigos brand – created by George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman – first made a splash on the Tequila scene. But now the folks at Casamigos have expanded their portfolio with their first mezcal.
This joven (unaged) artesanal mezcal is made from 100% espadin agave and was crafted in collaboration with a family that has been making mezcal for five generations in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico. The piñas are cooked in earthen pits lined with volcanic rock and crushed using a tahona. After a long fermentation, the mezcal is twice distilled using copper pot stills. It's super smoky, herbaceous, and very delicious.
Through a rush of smoke and aromatic herbs, there are hints of cucumber, exotic fruit and white pepper.

We couldn’t decide if the taste was similar to bandaids, a newly opened Big Wheel, or the bottom of an ashtray. Needless to say, we were not fans.
Like any other Mezcal, the flavor is very intense and I would not recommend drinking this straight unless you have an acquired taste. Mixing this with orange juice is in my opinion the best way to enjoy this drink. The smoky finish works well with the citrus and it is quite pleasant.
Love it. I love how smokey it is. It's my perfect mezcal for a jalapeño margarita.
First, let me say that I love Casamigos anejo ... my favorite evening drink ... so I was really exited to try this. I read what few 'marketing reviews' I could find and it sounded like a fit for me. I have been extremely disappointed. My initial impression was that it tastes like how an overheated new rubber tire smells. I keep working my way thru the bottle hoping for an 'acquired taste' but it hasn't happened yet.
Tastes like the felt off someone’s shed roof.
