From the Kinsale folks over in Ireland comes this Atlantic Dry Mead. The traditional style mead is made from raw Spanish orange blossom honey, which is mixed with local water and yeast and then fermented. Though the honey is a prominent flavour, this dry mead is anything but overly sweet.
Apple blossom, candied citrus, floral honey and ripe orchard fruit.
Once you get your head (or your tongue) around that it taste of honey but it's not sweet, this is a fantastic mead. And because it's nearly dry, I'm afraid we got to the bottom much to easily and too quickly! Delicious. Recommended
I noticed this had won a UK Great Taste award in 2019 so eager to try it. Very different than most meads I've had - it's not sweet for a starter and it's got clear citrus notes, its very light and incredibly smooth and the hint of honey is there all the time, but not sweet as I said. It's very very good.
