Southern Comfort

Southern Comfort (or SoCo) is a very popular American whiskey liqueur flavoured with peaches, American whiskey, herbs, fruit and spice.

You've undoubtedly seen on back-bars across the globe. It was first produced all the way back in 1874 in New Orleans by bartender Martin Wilkes Heron, combining classic whiskey notes with the fruity freshness of peaches.

Since its birth in the late 1800s, Southern Comfort has been used in countless cocktail and mixed drink recipes. It pairs particularly well with cola and a good slice of lime.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Sweet, fruity aromas. Tinned peaches, hints of golden syrup and a touch of marzipan.

Palate Sweet, creamy palate. Peach nectar, hints of soft spice, vanilla and honey. Very oily.

Finish Vanilla and honey. Fruity.

SoCo has been TARNISHED!!! I say Tarnished!!! :-)
The history is interesting, but as for pairings, you have it all wrong. (In a nice way, I mean). My Grandfather, Archa Burr was born in Iowa in 1899. Sixty one years later, my Mom presented me to him as a birthday gift on September 8th! Two decades later I was fortunate enough to sit down with him at his kitchen table in Marshalltown, Iowa. That's when he introduced me to the joys of Southern Comfort (I'll skip over my college years, because they weren't pretty, lol) The pairing he introduced me to was Southern Comfort & Ginger Ale on the rocks. Period. Full stop. IMHO, it is the ONLY combination using a soda, pop, soft drink, etc. Cola is too heavy. From the (now older) Granson of an Iowa Farmer: Ginger Ale nicely complements the SoCo and you can sip it, swill it or just generally enjoy it! Add some lime, as bar tenders are want to do, but don't pass it up. And yes, it is the key ingredient in some AMAZING cocktail recipes! Drink responsibly. Stay home & don't drive your furniture while intoxicated. ;)

Nice for summer with loads of ice
What it does really well is make an easy to drink liquore for summer, excellent with loads of ice. It's not whiskey or even has whiskey in it (it's whiskey flavoring), but for what it is, outs nice. Over priced though.

Mwoaaa mehh
To sweet to drink it on its own. Mix with coke zero or sprite/7up to smoothen the edges. I received a few free bottles, would never bought it myself.

One of a kind
Nothing else taste like it. Excellent. Goes well with Coke Zero to curb the sweetness.
