Shanky's Whip Gift Mug

This set ought to make a great gift for fans of Irish coffee – it includes a 700ml bottle of Irish whiskey liqueur Shanky's Whip, accompanied by a rather stylish ceramic coffee mug. Shanky's Whip is made with a base of spicy Irish whiskey, infused with vanilla and caramel to create a deliciously sweet and creamy profile that will work brilliantly in an Irish Coffee (see recipe below). Oh, and the mug has an ostrich's head for a handle, which is pretty unique!

How to make a Shanky’s Whip Irish Coffee

Ingredients:

45ml Shanky's Whip Irish whiskey liqueur

120ml hot, freshly-brewed coffee

1 to 2 teaspoons brown sugar (adjust to taste)

Freshly whipped cream

A sprinkle of grated nutmeg or chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

Prepare the coffee to your taste. Pour the hot coffee into a warm mug until it's about 3/4 full. Add the brown sugar and stir until fully dissolved.

Gently pour the Shanky's Whip over the back of a spoon or directly into the coffee and sugar mixture.

Carefully spoon a thick layer of freshly whipped cream over the top of the coffee. The cream should float on top rather than mixing in. For the best texture, whip the cream until it's thick but still pourable rather than stiff.

Garnish with a sprinkle of grated nutmeg or chocolate shavings.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The initial taste is creamy vanilla and toffee followed by the richness of the high quality Irish whiskey, offering hints of oak, milk chocolate, malt, and a baking spices, with blackcurrants providing a tangy, refreshing edge.

Shanky’s whip
Very enjoyable drink on its own, with ice or in a coffee. It’s a little like Baileys in that once open doesn’t need an excuse to drink it 😊
