Croatian Maraschino liqueur, made with Marasca cherries grown in and around the city of Zadar. Maraska have been making Maraschino for years upon years and even took their name from those special sour cherries used to make it. Plenty of rich almond and cherry notes to be found here, which should make your Aviation really take off.
I purchased a bottle when we were in Croatia last summer. Truthfully, I bought it because it was in a beautiful hand blown bottle. During the “shelter in place” place this spring, I decided I might as well try it. I was pleasantly surprised. I did not find it overly sweet, at all. I am sorry I only purchased one bottle.
We love this liqueur discovered by a friend during a trip to Croatia, its fine taste and the specific flavor of cherry maraska is really delicious, it has become a staple of our digestive family meals!
This bottle arrived and the seal was broken. It was bought as a thank you gift for a friend, it has no cherry taste whatsoever. It tastes like pure sugar syrup and nothing else. He couldn't even drink it because he said it was like drinking sugar! This was a terrible gift and an entire waste of money for someone who loves cherry brandy. It's not as if it was cheap either. This is pure diabetes in a bottle. I'm so disappointed and have had to order cherry brandy from another retailer. I love almond flavour so love marzipan and Disaronno, I also love maraschino cherries. This has no flavour of either.
Beautiful town, sea and country blends perfectly into Maraschino. Aroma and taste one of a kind. One of the best liqueurs around.
