One of the very best liqueurs Eastern Europe has to offer, Becherovka is a fine Czech tipple with an almost cult-like following. It is made to a secret recipe, but it certainly reminds one of cinnamon, aniseed and thick honey. It's best served chilled…
I really like it, it's herbal sort of medicinal flavour appeals to my palate, I also love that warm silky soothing sensation as it slides down my throat, straight with nothing added. I will be hunting this down for sure.
This is my all-time favourite spirit. Beautiful herbal taste with a gentle cinnamon flavour
I like the individuality of 'challemging' liqueurs and digestives. Fernet Branca? Bring it on. But I spent a good year trying to find a way to make Becherivka drinkable. The only way I succeeded was as a small proportion in a riff on a Whiskey Mac. And even then I replaced it with pimento dram. One of the most difficult spirits I've ever tried to find a use for. But for this reason alone I give it some regard. Its an all round challenge!
It is one of the best liqueurs I've ever had. It was introduced to me in Prague and I really enjoyed it. I've been trying to find it in Queens or Long Island but without any success. My cousin found it in Brooklyn
To my untutored palate, it'd seem that if you like bitterness and cinnamon, you'll like Becherovka! I was looking for a more affordable and readily available alternative to Zwack Unicum and - while this doesn't and couldn't possibly replace that fine liquor - it's excellent in its own right. A fabulous, punchy, bitter-sweet herbal liqueur, it's quite unlike anything I've ever tasted.
