The clever folks at Audemus have come up with this contemporary take on traditional French bitter liqueur from the days of old. French chicory provides a bitter backdrop, with other botanicals including the likes of Sardinian myrtle, fresh oranges, and angelica root. With deep notes of woody herbs and earthy spice, this will work marvellously as a bitter element for cocktails, or if you want to go French top it up with some light beer!

Although this is built around the same basic flavours as classic Picon Amer -- orange and bitter herbs -- this amaro-grade variant on the theme dials the fresh orange way down (I mean, it's REAL subtle), throttling the sweetness and leaving a gloriously complex chocolate and chicory base dominant. Different from classic Italian amaros but in the same class as the best of them. Between this and the Covert Liqueur, it's clear the Audemus folks really know what they're doing when it comes to bittersweets. Highly recommended.
