Asterly Bros. have been hard at work in South London creating Britannica Fernet, an intriguing bitter spirit made with 14 botanicals including roasted hazelnuts, cacao nibs, rosemary, chocolate malt myrrh and even London Porter. Although bitter, this liqueur is full of approachable notes and is ideal for sipping neat as a digestif, or as a complex addition to cocktails.

Roasted hazelnuts and cacao alongside bitter dark chocolate, with these rich notes fading into a herbal undertone.
My usual go to Fernet is from Tempus Fugit with all the usual spices and herbs but with Quinquina and gentian (do love my vespers and Strega and 43) but saw this and well its xmas. Straight off so so but I had it straight over (1) ice and once the ice had cooled it down and diluted it fractionally this came in to its own. Good hints of cocoa rather than chocolate and almost a feeling of a good roast lamb ? But then of course its the Rosemary. A definite yes - and a great bottle.
Oh this stuff is beautiful. Was expecting a classic fernet menthol vibe but this is so much more complex. Love the richness of it!
Tried some last night and it blew my mind! So, so lovely
