Whitley Neill bottled at 43% abv (previously 42%). A London Dry Gin made with African botanicals including extracts from the Baobab Tree (known as the Tree of Life) and Physalis fruit. It's made in a one-hundred-year-old copper pot still!
Very spicy and rich. Juniper upfront, with hints of perfumed, coriander leaves, calves leather and citrus.
Thick with cassia bark, cut herbs, acacia honey, exotic spices and citrus.
Long finish with spice and zest.
Pleasant at first but then there's a back note flavour which develops which is anything but pleasant - sorry !
Good flavour, quite dry and with a licorice aftertaste. Preferred it as a martini, not so good with tonic as some other gins but still drinkable and certainly better than the commercial brands (Gordon's, beefeater etc).
If you like Hendricks then I guess you wouldn't like this. I don't like Hendricks! Use a good tonic though - always good advice.
Best gin a have tried. I found it to be wonderfully smooth, a little kick but just perfection. Lovely on its own or in with some tonic
Not a bad gin, better than Gordon's at least. My favourite is Hendricks and it's certainly not that good. Has a nice nutty after taste but it a bit harsh and "dry" going down. As mentioned, not as rough as Gordon's but not as smooth as Hendricks.
