Fords London Dry Gin comes to us from the Thames Distillers in London with help from Simon Ford of The 86 Co., the chaps behind Aylesbury Duck Vodka. For the botanical selection, the distillers cast their net far and wide, using a varied selection from around the world, including grapefruit peel from Turkey, jasmine from China, angelica from Poland, lemon peel from Spain and more, as well as juniper from Italy.
Shake up some tasty Martinis with the recipe below!
45ml Fords London Dry Gin
45ml Dry vermouth
A dash of Regans' Orange Bitters No. 6
Pour all the ingredients into a mixing glass with plenty of ice, and stir for 40 counts. Strain into a chilled coupe glass, and garnish with a twist of lemon!
Herbal rosemary and thyme meet floral heather and juniper, pink peppercorns, and grapefruit pith. Sweet suggestions of lemon and menthol cough sweets, lavender, and lemon balm.
£4.66 - £36.86
A very ordinary gin, with a disappointing lack of taste.
Superb! Nice and clean. Great versatility. Good for cocktails.
A classic juniper lead gin, made with cocktails in mind. Whilst it wouldn’t be my go to for a g&t, the versatility of this gin in classic cocktails is superb! Try it in a Bee’s Knees, martini or Tom Collins and it works in all!
Whether my night out requires a sweet bramble to liven up my night, a G&T to get the party started, or I want to keep it classy with a martini, Ford’s Gin is now my go to poison. I first encountered Ford’s at a ‘History of Gin’ event in London, and we’ve been best friends ever since. Not only were the several cocktails fantastic at the event, but also the speaker did a fantastic job of balancing out the historical information with bits of trivia about the liquor. Affordable and versatile, this gin deserves a permanent spot in your liquor cabinet.
1 gin to rule them all! I recently attended a gin cocktail tasting experience where each gin had been made with Fords. The concept behind Fords is interesting and they've definitely made a gin that can be used at all occassions.
