Silent Pool Gin is produced on the Albury Estate in the Surrey Hills, right next to the Silent Pool, a beautiful, mysterious spring-fed lake - what a place to create a gin! The gin itself features 24 botanicals, including makrut lime, chamomile, local honey and lavender, among others, resulting in a subtly sweet though intricately-balanced tipple.
Violet, lavender and lime leaf bring floral aromatics to the nose, while cardamom and juniper give it a spicy edge.
Elderflower, chamomile and a waft of orange blossom. Warming honey sweetness and a spark of black pepper.
Vanilla-rich honey notes last on the finish.
I bought this as part of a tasting set, and have to say, it is gorgeous. I'm no expert, but I know what I like in a gin and this one hits the spot. Lovely mix of botanicals which kept me guessing, sweet with just a hint of citrus. I'm about to purchase my first bottle.
A lovely flavour very strong citrus smell and flavour will buy again, very smooth goes well with Fever Tree tonic ice and lime slice.
An excellent, excellent Gin. Very smooth, clean. The bottle looks cool as well! Delicious!
Having been born and brought up a few miles away from the Silent Pool and always having loved that particular part of the North Downs I was rather curious when I saw this gin on offer in a pub in Central London and was determined to get to try it. Well I’ve just returned from a weekend visiting family in and around Guildford and I made a point of visiting the distillery itself adjacent to the Silent Pool and came away with a bottle of this very special gin. For those who are not fortunate enough to know this very beautiful spot (OK I’m biased) in person the Silent Pool is at the foot of the North Downs and fed by a natural spring which filters down through the chalk of the downs resulting in the pool being fed with exceptionally pure and clear water and this is what is used in the distillation of this Gin. To this exceptional water is added the very best of locally sourced ingredients which is distilled into something truly special. The gin itself is so very very smooth with none of the bitter edge that is associated with some of the mass produced gins to be found on the high street and as such can easily be drunk neat with ice but when mixed with ice, a slice and a good quality tonic produces the best gin and tonic that I have ever experienced. So it costs perhaps twice what a bottle of mass produced gin does but you really are getting what you pay for as it really is a premium product. Also as has been mentioned before the bottle itself is a work of art and the first time I have ever seen a spirits bottle with a glass stopper.
This will be my 3rd Bottle, really love it , have tried many Gins but this is the best for me anyway. Cannot return to low cost Gins now , would rather have small amount of really good Gin that large amount of low cost. Comes highly recommended .
