An excellent gin from Japan's legendary House of Suntory - Roku Gin. This expression is made using a selection of botanicals, including six Japanese botanicals that provide a whistle-stop tour of the four seasons. These include sakura leaf and sakura flower for spring, sencha tea and gyokuro tea for summer, sansho pepper for autumn and yuzu peel for winter. Traditional gin botanicals also featured include the likes of juniper, orange peel, lemon peel, coriander and cinnamon, among others.
Earthy and vegetal, with a light whisper of fruity sweetness hiding underneath. Peppery notes develop on the finish.
Cherry blossom and green tea provide a floral and sweet aroma.
Complex, multi layered, yet harmonious flavour of various botanicals. Traditional gin taste in the base, plus characteristic Japanese botanical notes with yuzu as the top note. Smooth and silky texture.
The crisp Japanese sansho pepper brings a little spiciness to the finish.
£5.71 - £69.25
I absolutely love this gin with its slight note of yuzo as you open and smell the bottle. With a whole (sliced), lemon loads of ice and a decent tonic this is an outstanding gin.
Oh my days - this gin is bloody gorgeous. Many other gins can leave a lingering headache but not Roku. No improvement required. Just enjoy the gin, ice and a slice with tonic. Heaven in a glass
Absolutely beautiful flavour and scent
I love the delicate citrus notes in the Gin, perfect to mix with a Yuzu tonic.
It smelt so good when I opened the bottle, I wanted to swig it there and then. Dry, followed by some sweet, peppery, lots of delicate flavours and aromas. Enjoy neat to fully appreciate the more delicate flavours but still holds it’s own with mixers or in a cocktail.
