Nose: An initially Juniper-rich bouquet is backed up with a solid backbone of rich grain spirit. Top notes of Cardamom and Orange blossom are evident with just a suggestion of Cinnamon.
Palate: The initial focus is Juniper, but the earthier botanicals make themselves known in the initial palate too. Mouthfeel is exceptionally viscous and creamy – this is good spirit, and it makes itself known.
Finish: The Juniper subsides and gives way to the Cardamom and Cinnamon, with a late resurgence from Orange Peel.
Overall: A most unusual, but quite entrancing Gin. To our knowledge this is the only cold-compounded gin currently available.

I pride myself on an outstanding Gin palate, I've been through the Hendricks cucumber phase, bloom strawberry phase, Blackwoods delicious dhetland Isle phase, I swear this Gin for my palate is perfect, it is unique in the Gin world, I love pepper and juniper, this gin is extraordinary, the closest example I've seen with the same taste is probably williams chase which gives me an awful headache! I've introduced several family members and friends and they agree this is the most unique and tasty gin they have ever had, price is obviously higher than most, however for my mind it's worth it! oh wow! well done Proff cornelious 😄

I'll take Hendricks gin over this any time, way too much clove. Utterly destroys a lovelt gin tonic.

Quite simply one of the two best gins in the world, (the other is Bathtub Old Tom Gin).My preference is just Fevertree light tonic with ice, (no fruit).Thank you very much Masters Of Malt and thank you very much Professor Cornelius Ampleforth.

I've never understood the wall to wall 5* ratings that I see for bathtub, the so-called professional reviews tend to be a little less favourable and for once i'm with them. Whilst perfectly OK i just find it an odd experience of two conflicting sides. There is a muscular spirit badly hidden within and it struggles to stay under control, it also means its the bitter and more fragrant of the botanicals that come to the fore rather than a wholesome bouqeut, which i must say i do prefer from a gin. As a result the botanicals carry a synthetic taste almost as if this were a spirit mixer with some sort of botanical mixer. All very confused but for me the strong grainy spirit really bullies everything else, Not bad at all but not 5* either

I was expecting another bottle of cheap perfume for Christmas so was delighted to be given this bottle of fabulous gin instead! I had never tried it before but I've been won over by it's delicate flavours. I've been drinking it with Fever tree tonic water which doesn't spoil the taste and I would ideally serve it with a bit of orange peel and slightly chilled tonic but no ice. This gin is amazing with or without tonic and makes a certain well known brand of gin from the local pub taste like petrol in comparison.. If you think you don't like gin you have to try this. There's a great pub in Brighton which serves this and Monkey 47 (and around 38 other gins) which is well worth a visit if you want a super gin experience. 10/10!

I'm not one to usually review things nor a gin expert however this is simply amazing. The flavours are fantastic it is a very smooth creamy gin, there's a definite orange peel flavour which is finished off with a warm spicy cinnamon and clove taste on the palate. I think this is going to be perfect for cold winter nights!

... it is almost a sin to spoil it with any mixer!Savour as is - because you are worth it ;-)

a very tasty gin
29th March 2014
Fantastic gin, completely different from others i've tasted and i've found it works well with a slice of orange.

10/10 Amazing Gin.
13th March 2014
My favourite Gin - period.
I love the botanist gin, especially in a martini, and would love to try this too, the reviews sound amazing, think it may have to be a Christmas present to myself :)

Just been experimenting - this gin makes the best gin and coke. It tastes like a sort of adult Dr. Pepper.
25th September 2013
A nice gin to drink straight or with tonic; in cocktails it seems out of place. It's a fine gin, and whilst is better than most high street products, it isn't the the best for my tastes. I seem to get a harsher cinnamon taste initially - perhaps a little too much cinnamon for my liking, then subtle orange in the finish. I think I'd prefer it the other way around. The packaging is quirky and interesting and would make a nice gift. I think it would be better if a thin wire was placed around the cap and teased through the hole to make for easy, uniform opening. Worth a try once, and would definitely recommend doing so - But I don't think I'd buy it again.

A friend said I didn't know gin, he was right! This is sublime with or without tonic. A whole new taste experience.
15th September 2013
Can anyone advise how it compares to The Botanist?
17th July 2013
You think of Gin as a cheap liquor, but this bottle was well worth the money!
17th June 2013
All these reviews are so positive that I must order na mbottle. My only questionmark before I taste it for myself is that someone said its the next best Gin to Hendricks. When I had a bottle of Hendricks a year or so ago I was completely underwhelmed.
23rd May 2013
My spirits were lifted by the consumption of this spirit. Let it sit in the glass with some ice and quality tonic for a bit and the flavours will meld together. The orange peel flavour is delicious.

If you've never tasted this gin you're missing out. Incredibly smooth and complex flavour. Keep the cooking gin for your guests and keep this for yourself!

I can't say much more, this is a truly wonderful gin, buy it.....no wait, don't, just in case I run out!

Was given a bottle for my 50th last month and not yet opened it. The comments above excite me so will let you know how i get on.
5th January 2013
Makes a fantastic gin and tonic, especially with a slice of lime, you can really taste the botanicals in this gin and it is incredibly smooth, very drinkable. Next to Hendricks its my new favourite gin!
4th January 2013
I thought Bombay Sapphire was a step above the average gin, but this takes things to a new level. This gin is too good to mix with anything else. Have it neat and savour the flavour.
26th December 2012
Wonderful on the palate and very strong. The best G&T ever!

Very nice with tonic, it really brings out the orangey flavour, my favourite gin to have with tonic, perhaps too strong a flavour to mix into cocktails but on it's own it's brilliant.
21st August 2012
i bought this as a gift for a friend and she LOVED it! she said it made the most delicious gin and tonic she's ever had.
20th July 2012
I. Hate. Gin. But I was given a dram of this along with a bottle of Rumbullion and it's very nice. Nothing amazing, but the simple fact that I liked any form of gin makes this a bit special in my view.
12th June 2012
Think the colour put me off - actually reminded me of bathwater. Will stick to Millers.
21st May 2012
That's not quite right - Oxley is distilled at low temps by pulling a vacuum on it so it is still boiled\distilled just not with heat - so is not a cold compound like bathtub.
15th May 2012
The best way to drink it is with sugar and lemon juice. It is heavenly!
26th March 2012
Oxley Classic English Dry Gin is also cold infused. ;-)
20th March 2012
I love gin and was attracted by the description, reviews and the 'olde english' packaging. This gin is sublime and worth every penny. The aroma when you open the bottle is everything it describes. You will not be disappointed, this is by far my most favourite gin to date! Enjoy!
18th February 2012
I bought a bottle for a work colleague but i drank it myself with the wife. She absolutely loves it so much we've purchased a further six bottles. The flavour is so intense. Just love it to bits!!!
12th February 2012
O.M.G. The best gin I.ve ever had, and I.ve had a few.
25th December 2011
I bought this gin for my boss as a thank you, and i have to say this is one of the best gins i have ever tasted, complex flavors and a slight anise sense to the finish , but not overpoweringly so. incredible in a martini, straight from the freezer, 2 drops of Noilly Prat, no ice what so ever.... delicious. you have to try this!!!
23rd October 2011
the best gin and tonic gin I've ever had. I've tried a lot of premium gins and this beats them all.
27th September 2011
Very Viscous, Slightly Tinted, and with an absolutely huge flavor. This is a really good Gin!
