An unusual gin from the Black Forest in Germany, Monkey 47 contains a unique ingredient. No, not that! Lingonberries! The 47 comes from the number of botanicals that go into this unique gin, and the fact it's bottled at a healthy 47%. It seems that the botanicals speak for themselves, as the gin has received bucketfuls of critical acclaim. Some say less is more, not for Monkey 47!
Oh there is a lot going on here... woody, vegetable smells under pin fresh grassy citrus notes and botanical sweetness, like a pine forest after the rain.
Predictably complex, this is a robust and powerful gin with plenty of spice, fruit and herb flavours. It's very well structured, and difficult to unpick but a citrus fresh start segues into pine and wood notes for a drying finish.
Wooded and reassuringly heavy.
A unique gin, that is crying out to be made into a Martini. It'll need an equally robust vermouth though.

Could be the best affordable Gin that is made in Germany. Imho Applaus Gin from Stuttgart comes in second.
Tried this particular Gin in Munich last week, recommend a single shot with ice & rine of an orange, low sugar based tonic, works well
Amazing is the word
Absolutely amazing
After reading the reviews i tried hunting down a bottle here in Montreal. It took a few Months wait, but they finaly got it back in stock. I picked up two bottles to be safe. I'm not the biggest connoisseur, I usually stick to bombay or when i want to spend a little extra, i get a nice bottle of hendrix. When we opened up the bottle, both my wife and I could detect the above average floral and spicy fragrances. Mix it with some canadian club tonic and a fresh slice of cucumber from the garden on ice. The first sip went downnn so smoothly. It was like nectar of the gods. What a refreshing taste. Not to syrupy or a strong alcohol hit. Its delicate and smooth. I was at work thr next day and all i could think of, was that i could t wait to get home to have another. Its a bit pricy for my budget. This will be my definitely notch up gin when i want to spoil myself. Ill be recommending this beauty to any gin lovers. If you want to enter the gin world, start with this one, youll be hooked.
