An unusual gin from the Black Forest in Germany, Monkey 47 contains a unique ingredient. No, not that! Lingonberries! The 47 comes from the number of botanicals that go into this unique gin, and the fact it's bottled at a healthy 47%. It seems that the botanicals speak for themselves, as the gin has received bucketfuls of critical acclaim. Some say less is more, not for Monkey 47!
Oh there is a lot going on here... woody, vegetable smells under pin fresh grassy citrus notes and botanical sweetness, like a pine forest after the rain.
Predictably complex, this is a robust and powerful gin with plenty of spice, fruit and herb flavours. It's very well structured, and difficult to unpick but a citrus fresh start segues into pine and wood notes for a drying finish.
Wooded and reassuringly heavy.
A unique gin, that is crying out to be made into a Martini. It'll need an equally robust vermouth though.

The best ever absolutely love it
Wow ...this was bought as a present and crumbs it's good ....not at all harsh....my new best friend.
I always thought that German Gin wouldn't even be worth considering to buy. But this one here is absolutely superb. It was a surprise from the moment when I opened the bottle. Even though it is stronger then the usual stuff (47 Vol %) it is incredibly rich in flavours - in fact it is like a bomb of flavours. Once you've tried Monkey 47 for the first time it will become a must in your private bar - at least it is in mine alreday.
My partner was so impressed by Monkey 47, he brought the empty bottle back from Frankfurt. One sniff of what was left, and I was hooked. Thank goodness we found a UK distributor. This gin is surprising, bold, complex and uncompromising. Pair it with Fever Tree, and there is nothing like it. Simply, the best.
Absolutely amazing gin. Unforgettable with a good quality tonic - no ice - in a tall tasting glass. Had this gem before a meal of seafood - perfect. Extremely nice presentation also - looks great as a valuable addition to a home bar
