An unusual gin from the Black Forest in Germany, Monkey 47 contains a unique ingredient. No, not that! Lingonberries! The 47 comes from the number of botanicals that go into this unique gin, and the fact it's bottled at a healthy 47%. It seems that the botanicals speak for themselves, as the gin has received bucketfuls of critical acclaim. Some say less is more, not for Monkey 47!
Oh there is a lot going on here... woody, vegetable smells under pin fresh grassy citrus notes and botanical sweetness, like a pine forest after the rain.
Predictably complex, this is a robust and powerful gin with plenty of spice, fruit and herb flavours. It's very well structured, and difficult to unpick but a citrus fresh start segues into pine and wood notes for a drying finish.
Wooded and reassuringly heavy.
A unique gin, that is crying out to be made into a Martini. It'll need an equally robust vermouth though.

Probably the best gin ever. I like Tanqueray10 and Oxley but this has to be the best. Fevertree tonic and a twist of lime - sublime.
Delicious flavour, introduced with a bottle by a German friend, great find!
Wow! This gin is quite simply one of the nicest I have tasted!! With a slimline tonic it is a classic combination in which all flavours are complimented.
I had this when I went to a decent UK restaurant. It totally blew my mind. This is the best gin I've ever had. It goes well with the traditional tonic, or vermouth, or a bit of plum, or even just with a little ice - it's heavy enough to hold up by itself. And it is unique, cannot recommend enough.
I have tried many a Gin, but none compare to this! I couldn't quite make out initially what I was smelling but I felt like I was sitting out in a meadow on a Spring day. This Gin is an absolute delight to drink. Beautiful, refreshing, intense. My favourite, definitely. If you like Gin, you must try this!
