Martin Miller's gin is distilled in pot stills and shipped to Iceland, where it is mixed with Icelandic spring water. It is flavoured with Tuscan juniper, cassia bark, angelica, Florentine orris, coriander, Seville citrus peel, nutmeg, cinnamon and liquorice root.
Citrus leads the nose, soon joined by spicy hints of coriander and cinnamon.
Juniper picks up on the palate, fresh and lively. Orange notes continue, not quite as pronounced. Mouth-filling and creamy.
Cinnamon returns for the long, warming finish.
Spicier than some, though refreshing citrus keeps it from going overboard.
A great value for money gin that goes really well with citrus and would work really well with summer fruits like strawberries too!
Drank this for the first time with my wife, we both loved it, as a single malt whisky drinker I tried some neat over ice, brilliant taste. As far as tasting cucumber is concerned, don't know where they get that from.
Ignore the cucumber reference. The person who said the cucumber taste was extremely strong was obviously eating a cucumber at the time. I dislike cucumber and would never drink anything that tasted of it. Martin Miller doesn't. It's delicious and one of my two favourite gins along with Hendricks which, incidentally, also doesn't taste of cucumber. Only in the minds of gin snobs!
