This is a stunning American gin, made by FEW Spirits in Illinois, USA. It was aged in oak barrels, and the result of this is an increased level of sweetness, complexity and spice. In fact, you could be forgiven for thinking this was a genever. Very interesting...
Rich, spiced aromas. Hints of lemon peel, earthy juniper and sugared peels.
Rich, almost biscuity palate. Cloves, stem ginger, hints of tart berry fruit, oily juniper and rich spice. Quite herbal after a time in the glass.
Long, gingerbread-lined finish. Berry fruits on the tail.

Just drinking my first Barrel gin; 50/50 with water. Excellent, reminiscent of the great Beefeater low volume "sipping" gins. Refined, not for mixing (but i will try it another time with FV tonic). Good work.
Not for mixing, but for drinking chilled straight or on ice like a whisky. Very smooth.
The barrel aging adds depth and character, but it's still an out-and-out great gin.
Really big orange and cardamom notes on this gin, which complement each other sublimely.
