The city of Carlisle has long been without its own gin, though this bottle here is on its way to changing that. The gin was originally created in order to kickstart the process of building a distillery, which the folks at the now-established Cumbria Distilling Co could consider a smashing success. Carlisle Dry Gin is a traditional juniper forward gin using only five botanicals, blended with fresh spring water from the Eden Valley before it is bottled at 40% ABV.
Juniper forward, followed by distinct floral notes of elderflower and chamomile with a drizzle of honey, sweet citrus peel and orange oil with creamy vanilla lingering on the finish, and just a prickle of black pepper spice.

Really smooth, i like it straight with a bit of ice.
I'm not from Carlisle, but this is amazing, smooth, soft and well made gin! Reminds me of the Botanist, only softer and more vanilla. Don't overdo the tonic though. Keep it simple.
This is my new 'house gin'! It's smooth and versatile, great with a bit of orange or lemon for me. I've also had it with strawberries and cucumber which adds a different dimension to it as well. Lovely gin! It was behind the bar at a charity event i attended last week and i think we drank them dry.
Bought this gin as a gift for my partner at Christmas because we're local to the area and we both found it so disappointing. There's no real distinctive flavour to it (it really could just be any old gin) and its so harsh! We've never had a "premium gin" burn so much, it really is like drinking a supermarkets own brand rubbish. Carlisle deserves better
