Do you like juniper? Like, loads of juniper? How about what could easily be considered “too much juniper”? Because Brute Ultra-Dry Gin might just be too junipery for even the biggest devotee of the revered seed cone. It’s a ridiculously juniper-packed gin with cold-distilled juniper to really give it an in-your-face flavour profile. It’s so heavy on the juniper that due to the amount of essential oils that have made their way into the final spirit, it’ll throw a louche when added to mixers or stirred down with ice. What’s handy about Brute is that you’ll be able to use less of it in cocktails and mixed drinks than you would a more traditional gin while still getting a similar level of juniper flavour coming through. True to its name (there’s a wink and a nod to the whole ‘Brut Dry Champagne’ thing in there too), Brute Ultra-Dry Gin is big, burly, and does not hold back.
Woah. That's a lot of juniper (as expected), bringing fresh piney aromas and an almost floral note, with a subtle lemon peel undertone and peppery notes.
Sweet as it opens up with bright lemon zest and liquorice. Boatloads more juniper builds, though it's super fresh with that floral note coming through again, reminiscent of parma violets.
Spicy, leaving the mouth tingling and absolutely full of juniper on a very dry finish.
That's... That's a lot of juniper.

If you you like your gin loaded with Juniper to extent that it goes cloudy when added to ice /tonic, then this gin is right up your street. Due to the amount of Juniper used, this gin will louche when added to ice/tonic. A a classic example of a spirit that "throws a louche" is Pernod, which is a clear spirit until mixed!
Fortunate enough to try this new gin and swipe me if it wasn't an absolute belter. Yes it's a full-on juniper gin, but the lasting take home for me was the intense but delicious dryness. Even mixed with tonic, the liquid hits with abundant flavour then, as the liquid soaks into your mouth, the flavours just linger and linger. Delightfully and extremely dry and tasty. Martini next!
