Bloom Gin is a superb London Dry Gin produced by Greenall's and named "Bloom" in reference to the floral nature of its botanicals: honeysuckle, pomelo and chamomile. In 2010 it was awarded a Platinum Medal at the World Spirits Competition.
Floral nose with thick fruit. Only a hint of juniper.
Honeyed palate entry with citrus and just a little blossom. Spiced.
Restrained juniper and spice.
I really love this gin but can’t find it locally to purchase.
I think bloom gin is great for the price it is lovely smooth gin works well as a g&t or as a base for cocktails. Very easy to drink a lot of it.
As everyone must be aware by now, this is a subtle gin with delicate flavours. It does not work well in an Aviation cocktail (with maraschino and creme de violettes) as it has insufficient botanical "punch" and makes for a strangely etiolated overall taste. However, there is no reason not to have it with a good tonic where its essential character may come out. Regarding cocktails, it is a case of matching its delicacy with the other ingredients to hand.
Usual delicate taste, the total absence of juniper comes through making this a smooth but different gin drinking experience. I loved it as a change to the juniper heavy varieties, it's novel and pleasant on the tongue. Great for cocktails too.
I like this gin. Easy drinking, perfect in a Gimlet, great with soda. It doesn't overpower with aggressive botanicals-they slip in in pleasant sequence. Nice packaging. At this price point it is my equal favourite British gin (with Martin Millers). I'm amazed by how polarised the reviews are here.
