Black Robin
From the same folks behind Blue Duck Vodka over in New Zealand comes Black Robin Gin! Just like the vodka, the spirit is distilled from whey, and the botanicals are sourced organically wherever possible. Among the botanicals is the New Zealand Horopito, and ancient flowering plant more commonly known as peppertree, seeing as the leaves give a chilli-like heat and flavour. Sustainability is key to the brand inspired by the endangered black robin, with sales from each bottle donated towards preserving the species.
Lemongrass, lime peel and leafy watercress. Anise and caraway develop in the glass.
Leafy notes continue on the palate, joined by spiciness of cardamom and juniper.
Sweet hints of liquorice and pear skin linger.
$32.12 - $77.27
Worth knowing what you’re getting yourself in for with this. I had it neat and it is really good, but it is pretty subtle in terms of flavouring on par with some (granted fairly characterful) vodkas I’ve had. Suspect that it would be lost in a GnT.
Fabulous Gin. Such a clean taste. You can taste the quality from the first sip. Totally love it, and recommend it.
I’m a big gin fan, albeit I’m not one for flowery language when describing them. I’ll leave that detail to the guys at master of malt. Instead I’ll simply say this is a stunner. Incredibly smooth, slips down so easily. Light yet full of flavour.
A fantastic gin! Highly recommended. Firstly, it's probably one of the only alcoholic drinks that when neat smells good. Very mellow. In terms of taste, and I'm no gin expert, its possibly the nicest I've tried. I mixed it 1 part gin to 4 parts tonic on ice with a slice of cucumber. Very smooth, and refreshing. I've not tasted it neat as yet but I can imagine it will be good.
If you think you cannot drink a gin neat think again . By far Black Robin is the nicest gin neat.Black Robin Gin is the only gin in our cabinet.Love it
