No. 3 London dry gin is a beautiful looking gin from Berry Bros. Made to a special recipe, the name No.3 refers to the address of BBR - Number 3, St James's Street. With juniper at its heart, it's also made with orange peel, grapefruit peel, coriander, cardamom, and angelica.
Juniper, citrus, hay, orange zest, lavender honey.
Cardamom mixed with coriander, clean juniper, grapefruit and white pepper.
Long, dry, spicy, peppery finish.
Its a pleasant gin, but not deserving of the hype because its made by Berry Brothers. I use gin for martinis and make them very dry. Frankly I found it was unable to stand up to even subtle dilution with ice made from filtered water. There are many, more interesting, and less expensive choices among gins. Plus some extraordinary choices in the winter wheat vodkas from Russia which have amazing flavours, like the inexpensive Russian Standard Vodka
We were introduced to it as a liquor store [off-license] in London when we went to buy scotch. They would not accept credit cards and we lacked sufficient cash, so they offered us a taste of No.3. I'm normally not a gin drinker, but this stuff was excellent straight! When we were able to buy some with plastic, we did & brought it home to the US.
Perfect for a G&T and even palatable neat, which I cant say of any other gin.
Okay, so I’m not an expert and I usually just pick up Tanqueray— but this is the smoothest, most pleasant tasting gin I have ever tried. It’s actually quite palatable straight and absolutely delicious in a classic gin & tonic. Would highly recommend!
My favourite London dry gin so far. Perfect gin for a martini.
