This cider brandy, made entirely with apples from Somerset, spends five years maturing in oak casks. Superbly rich and flavoursome, with sweetness and spice in good balance.
Easily competes with it's more prestigious French Calavdos counterparts. With it's youthfulness comes fresh tasting notes and some vibrancy. Slight tartness helps balance things. Appley for sure, perhaps not so "cidery". For me, consideriably different to the 10 year old version. Both are lovely but I prefer the 5 year as it differs more from the what I'm used to as a malt-head.
I had eyed this up for sometime, and decided to go for the more expensive 5 year aged version.
