Ron Roble Viejo is a premium rum created by four friends. They aimed to make the world's best rum. Their focus was on quality, not quantity. They produce limited editions, each carefully aged.
Giorgio Melis, a Master Rum Blender, is behind Ron Roble Viejo. He is a chemical engineer with over 50 years in rum production. Melis has won numerous awards for Ron Roble Viejo. These include competitions in Madrid, Barcelona, New York, and other cities.
In 1954, Venezuela regulated rum production. It was the first country to do this. The law required at least two years of ageing for rum. In 2003, Venezuela set up the first Controlled Origin Denomination (D.O.C.) for rum. This certifies the origin and quality of their rums. Ron Roble Viejo is part of this D.O.C.
Ron Roble Viejo is in Yaracuy, Venezuela. They use top sugarcane for their rum. The company has a detailed process for making rum.
Fermentation
Molasses ferments with selected yeasts. This creates alcohols for distillation.
Distillation
The rum goes through a five-column distillation. This separates water and other parts from the alcohol. Only the best alcohol is used.
Ageing
The rum ages traditionally. Alcohol evaporates from barrels without being replaced. This gives the rum its quality and amber colour.
Ron Roble Viejo offers several premium rums:
