Papa Rouyo Rum
Papa Rouyo opened its doors in 2021 on the island of Guadeloupe and has quickly become known for its commitment to producing high-quality rhum agricole—a style of rum made from freshly squeezed sugarcane juice rather than molasses. It uses a double retort pot still for distillation.
The name Papa Rouyo is a nod to Charles Albert Ruscade, known as Papa Rouyo, who was a respected cane worker in the region from the early to mid-20th century. The rum line-up contains interesting expressions like the Eritaj and Vibrasyon ESB Ex-Cognac which are lightly aged spirits with high proof levels and rich, complex flavour profiles. Eritaj is noted for being aged in new French oak and then finished in ex-Cognac barrels, giving it a unique twist on the classic agricole flavours.
