NAUD

The story of the NAUD distillery can be traced back to Emile Perrier. He founded the Distillerie du Donjon in Pons in 1923 having studied the production of fruit liquor in Bordeaux before. He also worked for several brands and had set up a previous distillery in Bussac-Forêt in Charente-Maritime at the end of the 19th century. He taught the family business to his son, Jean-Gabriel, who In 1936 converted an ancient grain mill into a Cognac distillery on the Isle of Pinthiers. He installed five Speichim copper pot stills and his son took over, but the distillery eventually fell dormant. The NAUD brand came much later, in 1999 when Jean-Michel Naud built the very first vodka distillery in the Charente region, which he fitted with three-column stills to create French vodka. Eventually, in 2017, with his son Pierre, Jean-Michel reignited the flames under the five-pot stills in the ancient distillery in Pinthiers.
