An XO Cognac from Fanny Fougerat's selection. These expressions are crafted with Cognac which would otherwise end up as part of a blend from the big Cognac houses, but Fanny Fougerat uses the the eaux-de-vie to create some astonishing tipples. This particular XO Cognac is made using 100% Ugni Blanc grapes, drawn from 15 Limousin casks.
Sugared peels, dried pear, soft nutty hints of almond with a little bit of black tea.

Absolutely love this. I'm now on my second bottle and it so smooth and subtle. Would highly recommend
This is so bad it looks like a glass of wine instead of a Cognac. However the taste is even worse, just so much alcohol burn and no flavour or length. I bought this a few days ago and tried it today ( never again ) It tastes more like a VS than an XO.
I was intrdoduced to this by a friend who informed that as it doesn't have any added sugar, colouring or flavouring, it would be 'unlike any other cognac I had ever had'. Boy was she right! Honestly the only way I can describe this, is cognac in HD. It's noticeably lighter in colour than other XO cognacs I have but the label tells me everything I need to know about how old the liquid is. Nearly 20 years in oak cask but very light in colour which I love - really enlightening and makes me ask questions about the other mahogany cognacs I have in the cabinet. For me this tastes very expensive - by that I mean complex and a very long finish. Lots of dried fruits and peels and a beautiful lightly spiced finish.
Dark caramel, with sweet citrius.
