The fantastic flagship from Bunnahabhain, launched as the distillery's original single malt in 1979. The 12 Year Old is aged in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks and bottled at a big 46.3% ABV without chill-filtration or additional colouring. Boasts plenty of beautiful coastal qualities plus a fruity, light, sweet and nutty character.

Tasting notes

Nose

Fresh, sweet, and a little floral. There’s seaweed, rich malt, dried fruit, camphor, caramel, chocolate orange, and apple poached in cinnamon.

Palate

Soft and supple with a nutty, sherried quality leading among vanilla, marmalade, sultanas, and a bright coastal element.

Finish

Mochaccino, dried herbs, Christmas cake spice, and a balanced salty tang.

Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Cask Strength - 2023 Edition

Every Bunnahabain cask strength 12-year-old is an undiluted celebration of the distillery's distinct unpeated Islay whisky character. Master blender Julieann Fernandez selects the casks for these releases from the famous Warehouse 9 herself, predominately sherry casks and a small portion of bourbon barrels. For the 2023 edition, the brand has bottled the biggest ABV yet, 60.1%. The strength intensifies those fruity notes for a deeper, richer sip.
