Midnight Liquor Club
Made with three ingredients in equal measures, the Negroni is somehow both straightforward and sensational. But, what if there was another ingredient in there? What if someone went and created a tremendous twist on the traditional recipe that offers you an opportunity to try something new and different? The Midnight Liquor Club are those people, and the Chocolate Negroni is that something new and different! The famous trio of gin, vermouth, and bitter orange aperitif are here, but it's also been given an infusion of cacao nibs and shaved dark chocolate, introducing some fascinating elements to the familiar flavour profile. You'll want to give this a good stir over ice, and garnish with a twist of orange.
Chocolate orange arrives first, with classic rootsy notes kept fully intact leading into fresh pine.
Dark chocolate once again jumps out right away, followed by softly spicy juniper berry and orange oil. A touch of Fry's Turkish Delight developing from the chocolatey notes.
An enjoyably bittersweet finish of more citrus and cacao.
A fine balance had to be struck here to prevent this from becoming too bitter or too sweet – and it was a success!
