A well-aged Bas Armagnac from Sempé. Matured in oak barrels, the fresh fruit notes have been tempered by the oak, making for a mellow expression, ideal for sipping on a cold winter's evening.
Plenty of dried fruit, oaky spice, and a rancio notes developing.
Slightly pale in colour ultimately this armagnac was disappointing. Mild even bland in flavour it gave a slight burn in the mouth and a slight warmth as it slid down the throat. Easy to sip. Nothing much to recommend it but also nothing much to criticise.
