“First tasted this in Sweden in 1965 with herring marinated by a local Grandmother. Wonderful. We use it as a special treat with Scottish marinated sweet herring. Put Akvavitt in freezer in advance and have thimblefuls with each mouthful. Sometimes (helangore?) "all at once".”

This is the real stuff, not rebottled in the US. As others have said, store it in the freezer.

Tried this on a cruise 1 september 2012 on the Baltic. Found it very relaxing and very stimulating. I bought 2 bottles of taffel when in aalborg, but take care as it can creep up on you.
