I see negative reviews on this which it doesn't deserve, this is a great Absinthe , it has a decent Louche when prepared , it has a nice organic botanic taste from the wormwood and anise. It is distilled from an original pre ban recipe, This is a good starting point for French Absinthe - move onto the Jade bottles after. Great stuff
I bought one here just a month ago. Casually I had a bottle of Pastis Richard at home and I was able to make a comparison: it's quite the same thing, with more alcohol added. Next time I'll try something else.
When it first came out it tasted like 'Pernod Anis' on steroids, not itself a bad thing, but since they 'rediscovered' the old recipe a few years ago, it became more Absinthe like. Actually quite similar to Jade's 1901, although you could argue over the quality compared to each other.
This is not even similar to regular Pernod. Even if it was, the recipe is about to change due to the rediscovery of a grape-based spirit recipe. Unlike La Fee Bohémian this will louche beautifully and works wonderfully in a number of cocktails. It is a good, solid Absinthe.
...but bottled at higher strength, with added green dye. Pay an extra £20 or so, research (try some samples) and purchase a bottle of far superior quality absinthe that are available. x
