A five-year-old Islay bottled by Signatory. It's from a secret distillery, even we don't know which one, but it's a well-peated, satisfying dram, and we have a few ideas about where it comes from...
Tar, roadworks and buttery grass. Caramel and honey provide the sweet touch.
Sweet then peat! Sugared lemon peel followed by woodsmoke, leather and tyres.
Smokey sweetness lingers.
A great Islay, wherever it's from.

The best single malt under 50€. Complete wisky.
May not have the maturity of other malts, but well worth a visit. Not lacking in flavour, but gives a more subtle Islay experience.
Seems to be in the wrong category!
